Ready to take your top rope climbing to the next level? Our Top Rope Anchor Course is the perfect way to learn more about the nuances of top rope climbing in the Gunks. Here’s the gear we recommend.

We can help supply technical rock climbing equipment you might be missing. However, you are responsible for all clothing and personal items. 

Required Gear 

• UIAA/CE Approved harness with belay loop 
• UIAA/CE Approved helmet 
• Belay/Rappel device (e.g., Petzl Reverso. Black Diamond ATC,  other device with guide-mode capability)
• Climbing shoes 
• Chalk bag 

Recommended Gear  

• Approach shoes (or good hiking shoes)
• 6x HMS/Pear-shaped locking carabiners
• 4x Locking carabiners
• 2x 4-foot nylon runners
• Cordelette of 7mm accessory cord 16-20ft
• Prussik loop of 5mm cord or something similar (e.g., Sterling Hollowblock) 
• 100ft 10mm static cord
• Petzl GriGri (or similar assisted braking device)
• Backpack for carrying gear
